Battlefords Hockey Scores Jan. 28-30

THE BATTLEFORDS – Here’s a look at the hockey action involving the Battlefords teams this past weekend:

The regular season is almost over in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League, and this weekend there was a full schedule of games.

Friday night’s scores saw Radisson over Perdue 8-0, Turtleford over Maidstone 7-3 and Battleford over Maymont 16-2 at Maymont.

Saturday’s scores saw Meota win at Battleford 4-2, Perdue at Spiritwood 6-4 and Turtleford at Maymont 14-2. Sunday’s action saw Maidstone over Radisson 8-4.

The league standings have Meota Combines leading with a perfect 13-0 record, with Turtleford second at 11-2 and Battleford third at 9-3.

There are two games left on the schedule on February 4: Meota at Maymont and Perdue at Battleford.

In U18 action, the Battlefords AAA Stars had no games over the weekend and the team have seen a number of postponements in recent days due to various COVID-19 protocols. Their home game which was scheduled to take place on January 26 against Prince Albert has been postponed to February 16.

A revised home schedule has been released for the team for February, and it includes games on February 11 and 12 against Yorkton, February 16 against PA, February 19 against Notre Dame and February 26 and 27 against Tisdale. The Stars are expected to be back on the road in Prince Albert on Feb. 2 and have several road games to come.

The female Battlefords AAA Sharks weren’t in league action this weekend; their next game on the schedule is February 10 at home against Prince Albert.

And in men’s AA action in the Center Four League, the North West Stars won 5-1 against Parkland Elks in a game played at St. Walburg Arena.
