Hockey player drinks fan’s beer after team’s 3-0 win in QMJHL playoffs

An Acadie Bathurst Titan player celebrated his team’s triple overtime playoff win over the Halifax Mooseheads in an unusual way Wednesday night.

Thomas Belgarde, a 20-year-old forward from St-Georges-de-Beauce, Quebec, was seen on video drinking a fan’s beer as he left the ice after the dramatic victory, which ended ended just before midnight after more than 5 hours.

The standout celebration was captured on video by a fan and quickly began making its rounds on social media soon after.

The Titan won the game 4-3, with the game-winning scorer coming with just under four minutes left in the third overtime by Montreal Canadiens prospect Riley Kidney.

The game ended up breaking the longest game record in the Mooseheads’ 28-year history, ending at 116 minutes and 14 seconds.

After winning the first two games of their best-of-five first round, the Mooseheads found themselves losers of the final two.

The deciding Game 5 was scheduled for Thursday night in Bathurst, but given the duration of the game, the QMJHL has decided to postpone the do-or-die first round game for one day.
