Hockey player scores five goals in two games in one day

LIAM Mckee had an eventful but successful day in the colors of the Winnington Park Hockey Club this weekend.

He played two games, scoring five goals as he helped two of the club’s men’s teams to victory.

First, it turned out for seconds at Deeside and scored Park’s second goal after Robin Bowden gave them the lead.

Harrison Austin added a third and although the hosts reduced the deficit to just one goal, Sean Morley’s goal restored calm and secured a 4-2 victory.

Mckee then rushed to play for third in their home game against Triton.

He had a hat-trick before half-time and added one more after the break to seal a 4-1 win to make it eight wins in as many games for the third.

Meanwhile, Loz Miller scored the game-winning goal with just two minutes left as the first women beat Chester seconds 2-1.

She hit from a short corner after the teams hit the break level at 1-1, with Shandy Moloney-Pugh on target for the hosts.

The shoe was on the other foot for the early men, who suffered late heartbreak at Bebbington.

Both teams created chances for each other throughout the game, but the hosts won it 1-0 with almost the last hit of the game.

The club’s junior teams had mixed fortunes – the Beaver Blues won 3-1 over Macclesfield while the Beaver Whites lost 1-0 to Bowdon.
