Knopert named MAC Offensive Field Hockey Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ball State field hockey rookie Fleur Knopert was named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his standout performance against Ohio University and Michigan State on Last weekend.
Fleur shared the award with Floor Schouten of Longwood.
“I’m thrilled to have Fleur receive Offensive Player of the Week,” the Ball State field hockey head coach said. Caitlin Walsh said. “She’s been key in generating a lot of our attack this season. She’s a talented striker who can always find the back of the cage. Fleur is a hard worker, and that’s a great honor. deserved.”
Knopert excitingly came to the rescue of the Cardinals in overtime against the Bobcats. Knopert scored the game-winner to push Ball State past Ohio, 2-1, last Friday afternoon at Briner Sports Complex. Knopert also added the tying goal against Big Ten foes Michigan State on Sunday to make it 3-3 before intermission before falling to the Spartans, 5-3.
This season, Knopert leads the Cardinals offensively with eight goals for the season, which is the best performance for a player since 2010. She also leads the team this season in assists (5) and shots on goal (17) .
The Ball State field hockey team returns to the field Friday when they take on Bellarmine at Trager Stadium in Louisville, Ky., at 1 p.m. ET. The Cardinals will also stay in Louisville to face UofL on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
