Lenawee United hockey score win on senior night
ADRIAN — The Lenawee United hockey team celebrated their seniors with a 4-2 Southeastern Conference White Division win on Wednesday against Dexter at Arrington Ice Arena.
One of the nine seniors, Walker Claiborne (Madison), made it a three-point night with two goals and an assist. Another senior, captain Jake Benbow (Tecumseh), added his own goal.
Junior Aldo Barba (Tecumseh) scored a goal and had an assist while second Seth Kordyzon (Onsted) made 24 saves in the win.
Benbow put Lenawee up 1-0 in the first, but the Dreadnaughts tied the game in the first intermission and led 2-1 after the second.
Barba leveled the game before Claiborne scored back-to-back goals, one on the power play, to give United the win.
Connor Wilson (Tecumseh) got an assist for his first college point.
Lenawee is now 13-7-1 on the season and 2-4 in SEC White play.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Britton Deerfield 41, Lake Whitmore 33: At Britton, Jillian Molnar scored 19 points and Clair Molnar had 12 as BD snapped a six-game losing streak with the non-conference victory.
The Patriots trailed 16-11 after the first quarter, but outclassed the Trojans in each of the next three quarters. Whitmore Lake fell to 10-4 while the Patriots improved to 5-11.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Napoleon 61, Addison 42: In Addison, the visiting Pirates ran away from the Panthers with a 24-point third quarter.
Addison (2-9, 0-7 Cascades) has lost seven straight. Jaxen Sword led the Panthers with eight points while Nicholas Trumble and Nathan Sines each have seven.
COMPETITIVE SUPPORT
Adrian, Tecumseh at the SEC White Jamboree: At Chelsea, the Bulldogs held an SEC White jamboree where Tecumseh took second place while Adrian took fifth place.
Tecumseh posted a team total of 655.44 to trail Dexter’s score of 681.96 while Chelsea finished third (650.08) followed by Pinckney (613.34) and Adrian (515.66).
Tecumseh was third after Round 1 with a score of 209.7, but was second with a sub-total score of 388.24 in Round 2 as Tecumseh and Dexter both skipped Chelsea.
The Maples posted a score of 182.2 in the first round and 131.26 in the second round for a subtotal of 313.46.
