Amit Rohidas is an Indian athlete of whom the country is proud. He is an Indian hockey player who plays for the national hockey team all over the world. He constantly strives for success and due to his hard work he was named captain of the national hockey team for the FIH Pro League game against Argentina.

Amit Rohidas showed a keen interest in hockey when he was just 10 years old. He was born in Sundargarh district of Orissa on May 10, 1993.

The 29-year-old plays as a defender. The stalwart defender has been with the national team for no less than six years and is widely regarded for his drag flickering skills.

Amit Rohidas first started performing in his village, Saunamara, in Sundargarh district. Later, he started playing at Panposh Sports Hostel in Rourkela to hone his hockey skills.

He made his debut for the junior team in 2009, while he joined the senior team in 2013 for the Asian Cup held in Ipoh. He played so amazingly and as a result the team won the silver.

The man never stopped trying unless he reached the glory of success. Yet he rises to touch the height. Amit Rohidas has had a very successful career to date. He witnessed many matches that won glory. Moreover, he achieved outstanding performances at the junior level and his career started to develop. Then the real transformation started to take place in 2004.

His constantly hardworking nature brought him to the 8th edition of the Asian Under-18 Cup held in Myanmar in November 2009, where India came 5th. Due to his drag movies, he was awarded the star of the game and scored seven goals. After that, he had many opportunities in important tournaments where he showed his brilliant shots. He was also part of the silver winning team at the Sultan of Johor Cup in Bahru, Malaysia.

Amit Rohidas led the 18-member Indian junior men’s team on the European tour to prepare for the World Cup, held in 2013 in India.

India has won its first Olympic hockey medal in 41 years. The Indians screamed with pride and this news went viral on all social networks. On the pitch, PR Sreeejesh was there to calmly get the ball to safety. But there was one important race made, perhaps unrecognized, by Amit Rohidas. He was awarded as the best first rusher.

Now, the most prestigious quadrennial event in world hockey is approaching. This is the most awaited moment for all hockey players around the world and the fans as well. The enthusiasm for hockey is unparalleled, especially in Rourkela. The biggest stadium is built there and people are counting the days just to witness this world class competition. He also said playing in India would be a great experience.

Speaking on behalf of personnel preparedness, Amit Rohidas also mentioned that his team is back at SAI, Bengaluru. The atmosphere was great here, with six hockey teams currently based on the same system. The entire international hockey calendar has been turned upside down due to the advent of COVID-19. So, one should not worry about things that are out of control and one should move forward as the path leads.

He also spoke about his team’s preparation for FIH Pro League home games and working on gray areas all the time.
