Marshfield Men’s Hockey scores 17 goals in two games to claim Tomah Tournament title

TOMAH – The Marshfield boys won the Tomah T-Wolves Thanksgiving Tournament title with an impressive offensive performance.

Marshfield beat Sauk Prairie 9-2 in Saturday’s league game, a day after shutting out Black River Falls 8-0 in the semi-finals.

Ryan Krueger and Isaac Wellens each scored three times for the Tigers, who improve to 2-1 this season.

“We played a good game overall,” Marshfield coach Eric Bowman said. “We encountered penalty problems in the second period, but our shorthandedness was solid and we were able to turn them into momentum going forward. It’s good to see goals coming from multiple lines. We had a great tournament weekend and hope to build on that in two games next week against Lakeland and SPASH.

Marshfield scored three times in the first period and added two more in the second to take a 5-1 lead.

The Tigers put the game away with four goals in the third period.

AJ Trierweiler made 24 saves in goal and Sawyer Schindler had three assists for Marshfield.

On Friday, Trierweiler saved all 25 shots he faced in keeping the Tigers shutout.

Isaiah Baierl and Evan Weister each scored twice, and Adam Manki had three assists for Marshfield.

Marshfield hosts Lakeland in a non-conference game Tuesday at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.
