Old Saybrook Field Hockey scores a pair of wins; Women’s football wins and draws

Old Saybrook field hockey continued its winning streak last week with two wins to move up to 9-1-1 this year. The Rams beat Morgan and Haddam-Killingworth in action last week.

On October 4, Old Saybrook won a 3-0 road victory over Morgan at the Indian River complex. Sophomore Amelia Sigersmith scored an unassisted goal to give the Rams a 1-0 lead in the second quarter. In the third quarter, senior MacKenna Cooke scored on an assist from compatriot Alexa Coty on a corner to bring the score to 3-0. Senior Grace Adams scored from Cooke in the fourth quarter to end the 3-0 victory. Junior Kate Molesky made four saves for Old Saybrook’s goal.

Then, on October 7, the Rams hosted Haddam-Killingworth and won the game by the final tally of 4-0. Cooke scored two goals for Old Saybrook in the first quarter with assists from Libby Stuart and Coty on both scores. Adams and Coty each scored a goal in the second quarter, both assisted by Cooke. Molesky made two saves at the net.

Football Girls

The Old Saybrook women’s soccer team played two games last week and came away with a win and a draw to move to 4-3-2 this season.

The Rams started their week with a 4-1 home win over Westbrook on October 7. Senior captain Lily Cody scored two goals with an assist for Old Saybrook. Her senior colleague Ella Hagelston also scored two goals and an assist in the victory. Junior Allie Lamotte contributed an assist for the Rams.

The very next day, the Knights played a road game against Norwich Free Academy and the contest ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Junior goalie Abby Colella made four saves in the first half and then senior goalie Sophia Barker made four second half saves to help Old Saybrook win the draw.
