Red Wings vs Yoopers United hockey game earns $100,000

The Detroit Red Wings alumni hockey game against Yoopers United may have ended in a tie, but the real winner here is the community of Marquette County. United Way of Marquette County raised over $100,000 at Marquette County Hockey Night last Saturday.
Proceeds from the event benefit the United Way of Marquette County Community Investment Fund. Money from the Community Investment Fund goes directly to the Marquette County community, including through the UWMC Annual Grant.
Last year, the UWMC grant enabled 24 local nonprofits to receive crucial funding needed to continue programs that improve the health, education, and financial stability of all Marquette County residents. . These programs impact residents of all ages, including providing scholarship programs for youth, meals and transportation for seniors, and medical assistance for those in need.
It was the first time that UWMC organized this event to launch its annual campaign. The event was sponsored by Embers Credit Union, UP Health Systems, Veridea Group, Miller Pipeline and UPHP.
It was supported by more than 200 volunteers and brought together more than 3,500 people. UWMC would like to thank everyone who helped make this such a success.
