Vermont News & Media Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Year: Karter Noyes | local sports

The best athletes have a way of raising their game when it matters most: meet Karter Noyes of Burr and Burton Boys Hockey.

A constant for the Bulldogs all winter, the elder propelled his No. 11-seeded Bulldogs to an upset 5-4 win over No. 6 Harwood in the Division II playoffs. Noyes scored four goals, including the winner of the overtime game to send BBA into the quarter-finals. He assisted on the only goal he didn’t score himself, finishing with a staggering five-point performance.

Noyes’ stellar play on the ice earned him the Vermont News & Media Male Ice Hockey Player of the Year award.

His season started with a one-goal performance and one assist in a win over the U-32s. That proved to be a sign of things to come, as Noyes had at least one point in eight separate games this winter for the Bulldogs.

He contributed more than three points four times, adding two goals and an assist in a Dec. 15 win over Brattleboro, a two-goal, two-assist night against Missisquoi Valley on Jan. 19, another two-goal performance and two assists in a BBA win over Middlebury on Jan. 27 and his five-point outburst in Game 1 of the playoffs.

Noyes would continue his academic and athletic career as a member of the lacrosse team at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts.
