Vote for the Home Team Hockey Player of the Week

There were a lot of great performances last week on the ice. High school sportswriter Rich Garven takes a look at seven of the best for readers to vote on Hometeam Hockey Player of the Week.

Congratulations to Madeline Langevin of Auburn, who won last week’s player of the week honors with 49% of the vote, which edged fellow Rocket Dominic DiPadua, who had 22%, and Marlboro’s Marcus Chrisafideis, who had 16%.

Will Gravell, Westborough

The elder scored his second of the game at 6:15 of the third period to lift the Rangers to a 4-3 win over Ashland. He leads the team with six strikes.

Tommy Hauck, Algonquin

The elder scored shorthanded and assisted on the game-winning goal against Wachusett, then submitted a 2-1-3 line in a win over Westfield to give him a team-high 12 points.

Matthew Lacroix, Marlborough

The junior stopped 23 shots for his first shutout and the team’s second of the season as the Panthers shut out Westborough, 4-0, to improve their record to 9-0-1.

Jacob Pruneau, Fitchburg

The sophomore scored his fifth goal of the season at 11:43 of the third period to break the tie and propel the Rangers to a 2-1 win over Lunenburg to remain undefeated.

Kaci Ryder, Shrewsbury

The senior scored four goals and assisted five to register his 100th career point as the Colonials beat Westford and Acton-Boxborough to move to 6-3.

Rachel Simkewicz, Oakmont

The freshman had a pair of two-goal games and added two assists along the way as the Spartans beat Shawsheen and Woodstock and tied Ursuline to move to 5-3-2.

Nolan Tomczyk, Assabet Valley

The junior was involved in all six goals, scoring four and assisting on the other, as the Aztecs edged out Grafton. He then found the back of the net a day later in a win over Worcester.
